Do This One Thing to Prepare for Your Next Big Presentation
Leaders are “up in front” of people a lot — team meetings, company meetings, conferences, interviews. And many of them put unnecessary pressure on themselves in these circumstances. They focus all their attention on how to do well.
Sounds like the logical approach, right? It’s not.
Yes, you should prepare and be at your best. But focus on a communication mindset rather than a performance mindset. Don’t worry about how well you’ll do. You’re there to convey ideas and information that others don’t have — so focus on that transfer of information.
And as for the spotlight effect, where you think everyone sees every little thing you do “wrong,” put it out of your mind. The fact is, they don’t even notice.
