Kill Them with Confidence: How to Shake the Nerves Before Your Next Big Meeting
Confidence is a broad, deep topic that I cover quite a lot in my coaching. While I’ve shared — and will continue to share — more on it, there’s one major point I’d like to spread as far and wide as I can.
The main thing I find is that people are looking for a specific (and fictional) type of confidence. They want to feel confident before something transpires — before that big presentation, before that big meeting, before that big interview.
But confidence isn’t an ingredient you add to a recipe — it’s the dish that results from that recipe. Confidence occurs after the fact, not before. So, the best way to become more confident at something is to do it. If you wait for confidence to strike, you’ll be waiting forever. Act confidently first, and the feeling of confidence will follow.
Whenever you’re feeling nervous, think of it this way: It’s not confidence I truly want — it’s more experience.
So go out there and get it.
