Nothing Lasts Forever: Why That’s a Good Thing

“Nothing lasts forever but the certainty of change.” - Bruce Dickinson

During the course of your life, you’ve almost certainly had countless friends and family members tell you things like, “This won’t last forever!” and, “Things will change soon!”

People usually say these things during times of stress or sorrow. They hope their words will help you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

They’re right, of course. Our worlds are constantly shifting. Our lives are always in flux. Your bad situation won’t last forever. But neither do the good times.

During the bad times, understanding that everything is temporary, will help put things in perspective and minimize the struggle. These tough situations are also opportunities for growth. Understanding that they won't last forever can incentivize you to take important lessons from them.

During the good days, the knowledge that nothing lasts forever can stop you from taking people and experiences for granted. It can encourage you to stop and smell the roses every so often.

So, whether you are currently going through a rough patch or enjoying some of the best times of your life, remember: everything is temporary… “this too shall pass”…

Enjoy the ride. It’s all part of being human!
